Bank head is situated at the top of the Lyvennet valley 10 miles south of Penrith in Cumbria.
Bank head is family run farm and has being in the family for 3 generations.
We farm approx 98 hectares of less favoured area and the land rises to approximately 1000ft above sea level, on limestone grass land which is permanent grass as the soil is close to the rock so that no ploughing is possible.
Our meadows for silage and hay are full off wild flowers and herbs, which is interesting for natural England to observe. We have recently gone into an environmental stewardship to enhance the wild flowers and animals, which we frequently see, from hare’s, deer and foxes to oyster catchers, curlew and lapwings. |
